Ten Alberta women who are building futures rooted in strength will be honoured with a Daughter of the Year Award.
Daughters Day is the flagship initiative of the Canadians for a Civil Society. At the heart of this event is the presentation of the Daughter of the Year Awards, where we celebrate the achievements of women in our community.
This year's theme is "Building Futures Rooted in Strength." As we strive towards goals of gender equity and a just society for all, we would not be able to take steps forward without the courage and strength of those who have gone before us and those who are currently engaged in these struggles. On Daughters Day, we pause to celebrate the powerful strides our Daughters of the Year are making in the workplace and in our communities. Ten Alberta women who are building futures rooted in strength will be honoured with a Daughter of the Year Award. They are:
- Anurika Onyenso
- Carrie Anne Doucette
- Judy Lederer
- Kathryn Luu
- Kyla Fisher
- Rehma Khan
- Saniya Ghalehdar
- Stella Igweamaka
- Tatiana Meneses-Sab
- Theresa Stanley
The event's keynote speaker is Ashley Morin, Industry and Resource Coordinator for the Office to Advance Women Apprentices. Ashley began working in the trades in 2003 and her journey has led her to support other tradeswomen to navigate and succeed in the industry. Entertainment at the 2025 Daughters Day celebration include performers from different cultures and communities: Marilyn Dumont, Maria Dunn, the Trembita Arts School, and Paula Kirman.
