Spotlighting Indian classical music masters, Raga-Mala and V4U jointly present a multigeneration family of internationally acclaimed virtuosos of legendary sarod music live in concert

Spotlighting Indian classical music masters, Raga-Mala and V4U jointly present a multigeneration family of internationally acclaimed virtuosos of legendary sarod music live in concert exclusive to Western Canada to be held at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton with a separate Red Carpet dinner reception to be held the evening prior.

About the Artists

Ustad Amjad Ali Khan is among India's highly regarded classical musicians who continues to keep the sarod in global acclaim. Born into the sixth generation illustrious Bangash lineage in 1945, he was trained by his father, Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan. His playing style etches crystal-clear notes with soulful expression like a painting from an ancient world. Performing over six decades on stage at iconic venues like Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center, his cultural diplomacy and collaborations with world music legends bridged pathways with Western orchestras as a guest composer for the Hong Kong Philharmonic and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. His accolades include:

Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri (India)

UNESCO Award for Music
Crystal Award from the World Economic Forum
Fukuoka Prize (Japan) for contribution to Asian culture
Honourary Doctorates from multiple international universities
Grammy nominations for 'Ancient Sounds' in the traditional world music album category
Nobel Peace Prize Concert, Oslo, Norway

He is also the author of "My Father, Our Fraternity" and "Master on Masters", offering deep insight into Indian classical music and his personal journey. A mentor to many and father to two celebrated sarod players, Amaan and Ayaan, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan remains a symbol of grace, humility, and the timeless soul of Indian music.
