Experience a powerful collection of short films, handpicked by juries made up of new Canadians and those who once were. This unique festival highlights a vibrant spectrum of stories that reflect the lived realities, hopes and challenges of life in a new land, chosen by a jury of peers.
From a young, African Canadian hockey player who discovers the unexpected legacy of the sport in his bloodline, to a mother and child caught between traditional values and the world of influencer fame, these films delve into identity, heritage, and the balancing act between past and present. They cover topics like language preservation, fishing traditions and the universal struggle of finding a sense of belonging.
